For many sailplane pilots, the German Ka 8 brings back happy memories of their first solo flight. Operated by many sailplane clubs throughout the world, the Ka 8 is often used to give novice pilots their first single-seat sailplane experience, and as such it is still a firm favorite right up to the present day.
The ParkZone Ka 8 sailplane offers 4-channel control out of the box including aileron, elevator, and rudder control as well as fully proportional control of the wing spoilers. A fifth channel is needed to operate the optional tow hook release using the servoless release available from E-flite.
The model makes the perfect choice for pilots looking for a change of pace and a chance to try their hand at some graceful sailplane flying; either off the slopes, or by way of a tow-plane or bungee launch to altitude. For existing sailplane pilots, the model is a convenient, simple grab-and-go 2.25 metre size sailplane that can be flown within smaller areas.
The KA-8 is available either as a Bind and Fly version (PKZ6680) that comes out of the box ready to fly and includes an E-flite voltage regulator, Spektrum SPM AR600 receiver, a 2S 1300mAh LiPo and LiPo charger. Simply bind your transmitter to the onboard receiver, charge the battery and go fly!
The Plug and Play version (PKZ6675) is also almost ready to fly and you simply add your own battery, charger, receiver and transmitter, the version is perfect for electric flyers that have some spare equipment to use, and offers an economical way into sailplane flying.
Constructed from lightweight durable Z-Foam™ the Ka-8 features a scale high visibility white and red colour scheme that really stands out in the sky, useful when it’s flying at higher altitudes. Couple this with the inherent stability of the model and everything is perfect for some graceful soaring and gliding.
The ParkZone Ka-8 sailplane is one of the only models in its class to come equipped with fully functional wing spoilers. The Bind-N-Fly™ version comes with the spoiler function already matched to the throttle channel.Bind-N-Fly version has Spektrum™ 6-channel DSM2™/DSMX® sport receiver, installed and is supplied complete with a 2S 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo flight battery and charger. Easy access to battery is via cockpit hatch.
The Ka-8 can also be launched using the E-flite Hi-Start launch system (EFLA650 – sold separately)
The E-flite® Servoless Payload Release (EFLA405 – sold separately) can be used as a towline release for aerotow operations. Installation is easy and takes just a few minutes.
